Soya Bean, Beancurd & Yu Tiao (Toa Payoh Lorong 8)

Beancurd - also known to locals as "Tao Huey"
    Crunchy Yu Tiao (local churrios)

Butterfly - its actually Churrios coated with white sesame seeds

A typical Singaporean breakfast - a good cup of Kopi-O and crunchy yu tiao

Silken smooth tao huey and soya bean milk

    Smooth as silk......
Rise & shine! We headed to Lor 8 Toa Payoh for a good local breakfast fare!
I had the best yu char kueh and butterfly (known as "Buey huey ji") today - unlike the foodcourt fritters, which were too soggy! Also, the best home made soya bean milk and beancurd (thick with consistency)!
The best local food can only be found in the old heartlands like Toa Payoh, Ang Mo Kio & Tiong Bahru.......

    TCC @ Suntec City

This was the Veal sausage in cabriata toasted with mustard sauce. I like the light toasted sandwich for my lunch and served with my favourite hazelnut coffee!!!

Local desserts - Bubor Terigu & Chendol

    Bubur Terigu
Served in thick santan (coconut milk)

    Icy cold Chendol
These are 2 of our local popular desserts - for Bubur Terigu (Bubur is Malay for thick porridge, Terigu is wheat). It is a healthy dessert minus the santan (coconut milk). They are popular with Peranakans and the Malay community here.
Chendol - I did a research on this dessert and surprisingly it orginates from Japan! It was known as Cendol, a traditional dessert in Japan. Now, it has become a quintessential part of cuisine amongst the multi racial population in South East Asia! What is chendol without the rich consistency of santan??? SHIOK!!!

Beach Road Food Centre, Beef Noodles (best in S'pore)

Beef Noodles (with sliced beef, beef balls, tripes and tendon)
    Chilli with chinchalok

    Best beef noodle in S'pore!!!
I've tried so many beef noodles, from East Coast to Purvis Street - the best is in Beach Road Centre, Basement 1. The soup stock is very rich in beef broth and I love the beef tripes & tendon.

    Gado Gado (Indonesian Salad)

Gado Gado is a traditional dish in Indonesian cuisine, comprising of a vegetable salad served in peanut sauce (similar to satay sauce).

I love eating gado gado for lunch if I want something light............best with keropok!
